- Seventh grade students had an opportunity to create public service
announcements (PSAs) after reading the novel The Gospel According to Larry. Using Microsoft Movie Maker, groups of students created mini movies to persuade and educate sixth through eighth grade students. Topics included promoting bike safety, helping with world wide hunger problems, understanding depression, stopping bullying, protecting pets, being a good sport, just to name a few. Click here to play one of the examples: Bike Safety. - Congratulations to Park View students,

Build a Scarecrow: At the recent community block party,
Park View submitted an entry in the "Build a Scarecrow" competition and it was a prize winner! Thanks to the efforts of numerous student helpers and parents, Mrs. Frisch and Mrs. Burns, a well adorned scarecrow made its debut. The creative crew decided to give the scarecrow an "all Park View" ensemble, with the PTO generously donating spirit wear. In true Park View form, many hands and creative helpers made the scarecrow come to life. We appreciate all who participated in yet another successful venture.

Warrior Cafe: In conjunction with a community unit, Mr. Kennelly's class opened the Warriors Restaurant to help support the local food pantry. Students took advance orders so the adults would know how much food to purchase and prepare. On the day of the event, students greeted, took orders, served food, took payment for meals, made change and bussed the tables. Teachers and parents declared it was a tremendous success and a grand total of $400 was donated to the Niles Township Food Pantry. Bon appétit!
- “Raising the Bar for Middle School Science” The article from Inquiry, the journal of Northwestern University's College of Education and Social Policy includes references to Park View school with pictures of our students, and teacher, Lisa Brody. It highlights the role of various researchers and institutions with which the school has been collaborating. In addition, it also provides a nice summary of what inquiry based science is about and some of the facets of curriculum design.
