The Mosaic Project
Park View's artist-in-residence mosaic project is well underway! The project is being funded by a private donation, along with an Illinois Arts Council grant, plus the proceeds from a Student Council bake sale.
At the end of the 2006 school year, students were asked to draw pictures based on our chosen theme "parks and play." Those drawings were given to our mosaic artist, Chris Zonta, at the beginning of the summer. From the student drawings, Chris designed a 7 panel mural depicting children at play. Starting at the end of September, these 7 panels were the focus of an exciting, hands-on art adventure for every Park View student. Panels were completed by the beginning of winter break with the all day unveilings scheduled for January 17.
